Health Plus® Inc. was founded in 1981 in the back of a small health food store. Owners Pat and Rita Mediratta saw a need among their customers for a fiber product that aided in regularity and occasional constipation. They began importing Psyllium Husk from India and bagging it in the back of their store. Jump forward 36 years and we are now considered to be the founder of the cleansing market with our flagship, trademarked products Colon Cleanse® and Super Colon Cleanse®.
Health Plus has been a FDA registered manufacturing facility since 1989 and is cGMP compliant. Our commitment is to provide safe top quality innovations that you can count on every time. With over 36 years of experience in gut health, Health Plus is entrenched in ensuring our customers are up to date with the most current research on the digestive system. Which is why we have introduced the Prebiotic Formula™.
The trillions of probiotic cells in our digestive tract are living organisms that need food to survive. These probiotics don’t eat just any food, they feed on prebiotic fibers. Prebiotic fibers are non‐digestible to the human body but highly digestible to probiotics, which is why it is so important to ensure you get enough prebiotics daily to feed the thousands of strains of microflora in your digestive tract. Our unique formulation provides you with multiple sources of prebiotic fibers such as FOS, Inulin, Burdock Root, and Arabinogalactan to feed the majority rather than supplementing with just a few probiotics. Each strain of probiotics has a particular function and the thousands in our bodies work synergistically to maintain a well-functioning digestive system. This is why it is essential to maintain a healthy gut microbiome.
Research shows that there are over 100 trillion bacterial cells in one single individual, which outnumber human cells by ten-fold. There is estimated to be over 160 different species of colonized bacteria at any given time, with at least 1,000 individual bacterial strains. Significant variability has been identified in human gut microbiome composition, with ongoing research identifying factors that affect an individual’s digestive bacterial composition. Factors such as age, diet, geographic location, disease state, and antibiotics have been identified as contributors to variation in our gut genome. Thus, making it increasingly challenging to decipher who needs what strain of probiotic to supplement their naturally occurring bacteria.
Prebiotics are fibers that our digestive systems cannot breakdown. The molecular configuration of these prebiotics is what makes them different from regular sugars. The difference between these fibers is two switched molecules. These two switched molecules cannot be broken down by our digestive system. This permits them to reach the large intestine, where the trillions of bacteria feed, colonize, and flourish.
By getting plenty of prebiotic fibers daily you are supporting the growth of bacteria that your body needs to maintain symbiosis and overall health.
